We are thrilled to announce a milestone in the legacy of the To Kalon Vineyard Company as we welcome our new winemaker, Tony Biagi.
A 5th generation Northern Californian, Tony is a UC Davis graduate and an acclaimed winemaker with over 25 years of experience. His journey includes prestigious wineries such as Plumpjack Estate, CADE Estate, Duckhorn Vineyards, and Sinegal Estate Winery, before he took the helm at Hourglass in 2012. Tony's unique understanding of grape phenolics, masterful blending skills, and a modern yet traditional approach to winemaking has garnered him a stellar reputation amongst peers and critics alike. In 2020, renowned wine critic Antonio Galloni of Vinious recognized his exceptional talent, naming him Winemaker of the Year .
Tony will be working alongside Andy Erickson to craft the final blend for our 2022 vintage wines. This handover from one respected winemaker to another makes this journey even more special for Tony.
In Tony's words, "crafting wines from the legendary To Kalon Vineyard would be an honor for any winemaker, and taking the reins of this project from my good friend Andy Erickson makes it even more special. Everyone on the team has been engaging, driven, and passionate about crafting wines that capture the essence of To Kalon."
Tony will join the Robert Mondavi Technical Council while continuing to make wines for his brand, Patria, and providing his profound knowledge and technical expertise in winemaking through his consulting services to wineries such as Amici and Vineyardist.
We are excited to write the next chapter of To Kalon Vineyard Company with Tony and look forward to crafting wines that capture the unique essence of our storied vineyard. We wish Andy Erickson a warm farewell and the absolute best in all of his future endeavors.
Please join us in welcoming Tony to To Kalon Vineyard Company.
