Fall 2024 Offer

99 Pts. Top 100 Wines of 2024. "Massive concentration and dense tannins make this wine imposing to taste now, but it has so much potential for improvement with age. Made from 100% Mondavi Heritage Clone 31 that gives tiny yields from small grape bunches. Intense blueberry, dark chocolate, graphite and tobacco leaf flavors are tightly wrapped in fine-grained tannins. A memorable wine that will drink best from 2030."

96 Pts. "A loaded red, with a mix of iris, violet and cassis aromas leading the way for dark currant, blackberry and black cherry reduction flavors. Hints of warm loam, licorice root, tobacco and singed alder check in. Everything builds through the long, muscular finish, showing terrific latent energy. Big but not a blockbuster style; this shows poise. Best from 2025 through 2045. 490 cases made."

97 Pts. "The 2021 HWC is a beautifully high-toned and focused wine showcasing gorgeous black currant fruit, liquorice spice, and scorched herbs. Medium- to full-bodied, it delivers rich black fruit depth intertwined with wild herb nuances. The robust, powerful tannins are impeccably structured, producing a long, iron-rich mineral finish—a wine of purity, freshness, and precision, with remarkable energy and depth."

96 Pts. "The product of a "really severe selection," according to winemaker Tony Biagi, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon H.W.C. is a strong effort. Produced in roughly the same volume as the 2021, it smells purple, easily mixing cherries and cassis on the nose. Somehow in this torrid vintage, this medium- to full-bodied, rather open-knit wine retains a sense of freshness, adding hints of raspberry sorbet on the long, zesty finish."

100 Pts. "This potent, structured, memorable wine is built for aging but polished gently so it's drinkable soon too. Aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries and cocoa give way to a firm-textured palate sensation, focused black fruits, dark chocolate, blackberries and spearmint. Made from 100% cabernet sauvignon from the Mondavi heritage clone 31. Best from 2033." - Jim Gordon, JamesSuckling.com (April 15, 2026)

100 Pts. "The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon H.W.C. includes fruit from Mondavi 15 (near Detert and MacDonald), recently replanted to Mondavi's Heritage Clone. The wine is all Cabernet Sauvignon, yet includes delicate floral nuances to go along with masses of red and black cherries and hints of loamy earth. It's full-bodied, showing terrific presence on the palate, being dense and concentrated while revealing no excess weight. With a long finish that's rich but silky, dusty yet mouthwatering, it's the best wine I've tasted from this project to date, and it's impossible to imagine another one being better." - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (October 2, 2025)
