2023 ELIZA'S RED WINE

Explosive and expressive from the first pour, the 2023 Eliza’s leads with blackberry, cedar box, and Chambord, followed by evocative secondary aromas of lavender, soy, and crushed mineral. The palate is deeply layered, revealing dark chocolate, savory wild herbs, and cocoa, interwoven with ripe blackberry and subtle tobacco nuances. Despite its richness, the wine remains beautifully held in tension, with the acidity of the vintage providing lift and precision through the long, savory finish.

Eliza’s is a compelling testament to the quiet power of Cabernet Franc. In 2023, the variety rises to meet — and arguably rival — Cabernet Sauvignon in depth, complexity, and stature. This is a wine of intellect and emotion, marrying aromatic exuberance with structural discipline. It speaks to To Kalon Vineyard’s ability to transcend expectations, delivering a Cabernet Franc–driven blend that is profound, original, and unmistakably site-specific.

98 Pts. "The first year where it's a co-ferment, the 2023 Eliza's Red Wine is based on 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon raised all in barrel. Stunning aromatics of cassis, graphite, scorched earth, and spring flowers emerge from the glass, and it's concentrated and medium to full-bodied, with a great mid-palate, flawless balance, and ultra-fine tannins. It shows the pure class of this site and is a "wow" wine that should drink well over the coming 20 years or more. Drink 2025-2045.

98 Pts. "A pretty, elegant, floral-scented wine that emphasizes freshness, balance and a trim feel that's almost irresistible. Aromas of violets, blackcurrants and graphite lead to fine-grained tannins that firmly hold deep, complex dark fruits, baking spices and more floral tones. A blend of 54% Cabernet Franc, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot. Drink or hold."
